St. Paul's on the Hill: Meet the Rector

Fr. Steve Holton has been at St. Paul's since 1992. He is married, with two boys in the Ossining School System.

He values prayer, leadership in worship, preaching a gospel that reaches out and includes all people in the enormous diversity of God's love, and pastoral care to those in need or trouble.

He enjoys working with the larger community, helping others make our towns hospitable places for rich and poor, young and old alike.

His parish concerns and desires are reflected throughout this website, in worship and Bible Study and shared leadership with the deep array of lay talent St. Paul's is blessed to have.

In Ossining he is president and a founder of:

  • The Ossining Interfaith Youth Corps - youth from all the different congregations in the area - Muslim, Christian, Jewish and Humanist - gathered to lead our community in service and interfaith reflection on how our individual religious values draw us together in care for the world, rather than separating us in partisan divisions.

He was a co founder of:

  • Embracing Ossining - embracing Ossining's diversity through the arts and commerce - which has mounted a photo show and a festival to showcase the enormous promise of our diverse population,

In the Diocese of New York, he was the founder of

  • The Episcopal Muslim Relations Committee in 1991.
  • He was briefly a Chaplain at the World Trade Center disaster site.

He traveled to Afghanistan in 2002 to inspect a mosque bombed by coalition forces, and to meet and learn about the people of Afghanistan, on a trip sponsored by the Diocese of New York. He returned in 2003 to rededicate the new mosque, rebuilt with money from the Muslims, Jews and Christians of New York.
